Helping To Put Things In Context: Something You Should Know About D.C.

Everyone knows Washington, D.C. for being the nation's capital where decisions are made that affect the country itself and impacts the world at large. But between the time that politicians and special interest groups like to use the city as the reason for all that ails America, it has a more intimate side. This is the side that one could think of as the "local" aspect of the city. I think if people understood what really exists within the boundaries of this diamond shaped (minus a complete side) metropolis, their perspectives may be altered considerably. As AWashingtonWoman will continue to focus on some of the wonderful women who make up the fabric of the DMV (a term used for the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and includes: the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia), we will also strive to give you a little of the backstory, as objectively as we can. So it's been a year since this all began and without really trying, this blog has exceeded what our expectations were. So we are thinking that with a little love and a lot of integrity, we can share some real true insight which can be entertaining as well as informative. Who knows?.... Maybe it will even be ..... helpful.

Washington, D.C. Seems To Be The New "It" City

It seems that the cameras are coming to Washington from all sorts of directions. A WashingtonWoman is pleased that others are starting to recognize the wealth of interesting topics, places, and people located in and around the beltway.

At the same time we are holding our breath to see just how we here in the nation's capital are about to be portrayed. Certainly there will be some artistic liberties taken, and we know that. Still we are planning to create a platform where the real women of D.C. will comment and contribute to what we are witnessing.

So be you government employee, intern, retired grandmothers, single moms, double moms (thats me trying to be creative -- get it single/double --twice the work cause that's how we roll)...I digress... no matter what your station is around the nation's capital we are looking forward to your input.

O.K. ..... A WashingtonWoman is hoping Glenn Beck was joking when he made reference to Mrs. Obama's outfit she wore while visiting the gulf region to address the very tragic oil spills. After hearing of Beck's outrage I decided to take a look to see what all the fuss was about."Could the First Lady be showing too much? ...too casual?... too formal?.... God forbid..no jacket?"... With breath held, I googled around and to my confusion I looked and thought "What?... perhaps this is the wrong photo..." No that's it. Now I know I can have delayed reactions but, I didn't get it and then I realized what his mind must have zeroed in on...

I am not going to tell you, but if you saw the outfit, please share your thoughts. You can probably guess mine from my commentary thus far. A WashingtonWoman will look forward to your insight....

Thanks for sharing in advance.
